Dr. Matlock earned a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering from Oklahoma State University, an M.S. in Plant Physiology and a B.S. in Soil Chemistry. He is a registered professional engineer, a Certified Senior Ecologist with the Ecological Society of America and Director of the Center for Rural and Agricultural Sustainability. Dr. Matlock’s professional career has involved performing wastewater treatability studies; managing aquatic toxicity testing; implementing and managing federal, state and regional water quality control criteria; designing water and wastewater treatment systems, and optimizing treatment strategies for regulatory compliance. In addition to serving as CSO for BlueInGreen®, he is an Associate Professor of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Arkansas. His research at the University of Arkansas involves risk-based ecological and environmental systems analysis, development and analysis of bioindicators for aquatic ecosystems, and design of sustainable processes and communities. Dr. Matlock is past President of the American Ecological Engineering Society, a senior editor of the Journal of Biological Engineering and serves on the National Environmental Engineering Core Competency Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a co-inventor of BlueInGreen’s core technologies.
