Dr. Osborn earned a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Kentucky and his Ph.D. in Bio/Ag Engineering from North Carolina State University. He is a licensed professional engineer in Texas and Arkansas. He has served as a teaching and research faculty member at Louisiana State University, Texas A&M University and is currently a faculty member in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Osborn has been instrumental in developing new educational programs in biological engineering and teaching courses on the engineering design process and process equipment design. Dr. Osborn’s professional and research career involved incorporating living systems into engineering design, applying engineering design to the manipulation of rice genetics to improve food quality and creating methods to better measure sediment oxygen demand in streams.
His basic knowledge of cellular respiration processes, oxygen transport dynamics, numerical modeling techniques and engineering design of fluid-flow and thermodynamic systems, has led to the creation of controlled oxygen and ozone delivery systems for wastewater treatment systems and natural waterways. He is a co-inventor of BlueInGreen’s core technologies and was the chief engineering designer of the commercial version of the SDOX® product.
He has published numerous articles in scientific journals, holds a patent with several others pending, and has won numerous awards for his equipment design, research, inventions and teaching.
