INTRODUCTION

The retention ponds at the Camaloch Golf Course were consistently plagued with algae blooms due to high nutrient loading. The loading, caused by runoff from fertilizers, consumed much of the available dissolved oxygen within the ponds and greatly diminished water quality on the course. Hoping to improve the environmental state of the course’s water bodies, Camaloch course management hired Blue Ribbon Environmental (BRE) to utilize nonpathogenic microbes to consume the algae. However, the retention ponds lacked the necessary aeration required to allow BRE’s microbial life to survive.

 

METHOD

After researching possible solutions, course management and BRE officials elected to purchase BlueInGreen’s state-of-the-art SDOX technology. Working alongside the microbes, the SDOX system would inject dissolved oxygen into the course’s retention ponds, creating aerobic conditions while also keeping nutrients grounded in the sediment.

 

THE SDOX WAS ABLE TO OXYGENATE THE COURSE’S RETENTION PONDS, DELIVERING AN AEROBIC ENVIRONMENT, GROUNDED NUTRIENTS AND DIMINISHED ALGAE BLOOMS.

 

 

RESULTS

BRE’s microbes were able to survive in the aerobic environment created and maintained by the SDOX. The microbes consumed the algae within the course’s water bodies, resulting in fewer and less severe algae blooms regardless of runoff or nutrient loading.

 

THE SDOX DELIVERS UP TO A 99 PERCENT TRANSFER EFFICIENCY RATE, REDUCING WATER USAGE, POWER CONSUMPTION AND OPERATIONAL COSTS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

 

CONCLUSION

BlueInGreen’s SDOX provided the Camaloch Golf Course a cost-effective solution to curb its algae blooms, a common problem seen at golf courses across the country. However, the SDOX can be customized to treat nearly any body of water – from shallow streams to deep lagoons and even industrial applications.
